A tribute to dentists...

Warning: excessive gore ahead, not advisable for kids age 16 and below.

Well, if anyone of you were recommended to the dentistry department of NUS to be treated by the students there, before u make any decisions, pls read the following...

I was due for treatment today, and also, i'll be doing my friend Chun Kiat a big favour for being his patient which he will be presenting a case study on for grading his work.

As usual, i needn't wait very long before it was my turn...
We hit it off well, tied down things to Wayang while he do his explanations to me, and of course, one being an Officer and diver in NS, most things needn't be said, impromtu will handle it...

As expected, the grader felt no flaws to the presentation, and Chun proceeded with the practical part, and the unexpected arrived...

Dig! Scrap! Ouch!Ouch!

Juices and blood were splurting onto my googles!!! Hey! Who said it was gonna get messy here!?!?!?

As Chun mat tries to clear me of my calculus that has been there since june 2003(my last visit to the dentist), inadvertently flipping my gums inside out in order to do all the hard scrapping on the walls of my teeth. Due to inflammation of the gums caused by the plague and calculus, or in other words, gingivitis, my gums bleed like hell!!!
YES!!! HELL!!!
Chun could see me grimacing in pain with each stroke of his and he was in a kind favour, asked me whether i was alright... ya, i was... welllll, maybe until i go into convulsion before dying from excessive loss of blood? haha... kidding la... But seriously, how many of us actually stopped brushing our teeth whenever we encounter bleeding gums? Or even, how many of us still keep up the good habit of brushing our teeth?

I do confess to being one of the above, a backslider... haha... and now i have to suffer the retribution from my "act of convenience"...
And guess how long my whole ordeal lasted? 2 long hours!!!
The pain i felt, i just have to numb it with my very own anaesthesia, the power of self-talk...
I've always tell people whenever they caught me with any injuries, most of them self-inflicted in the most silly fashion, that "Pain is just a state of mind, if u dun think it exist, it wun exist..."

haha... well, i think i perfected that skill thru this "experiment" cause i'm still alive!!! Mwahahaha!!!

Anyway, at the end of it all, it felt really worth it.Even by comparing the duration of service, usually when we want to polish or scale our teeth, commercial dentists can whip us up in like half an hour? But over here, just a simple task can take 2 hours!!! But seriously, i've never felt my teeth so clean before, concluding my suspicions that student dentists do provide a much thorough service than commercial ones, because they need a good grade right?? hahaha gotcha! But it really felt so good that i wouldn't get tired of running my tongue along the smooth surface of my teeth all day long... And with all the explanations done by Chun Kiat on how to maintain my teeth, i couldn't feel much happier with the service. Good Job Chun!!! haha...

And before i end off, any takers for Chun's treatment feel free to contact me hor? I guarantee u service #1 ah!!! haha...

So now... Which junk food am i gonna sink my teeth into...?!?!?

After my experience today, i sincerely hope all of us will give a tribute to all the dentists and dentists-to-be out there.
