Shit happens...

You know how people always say that good and bad things come all at one shot together?
You either get a lump of gold or a lump of shit...
Guess now's the time that i get all the shit...

The numerous appointments i've gone for all returned nil results... promises to "start saving in future" aka rejections, are more common than ever. This has result in a snowball deficit in my production for this month, and there's an ever increasing pressure on my part to perform as well, perhaps due to my "never-say-die combine with stubborn" attitude.

But really, nothing beats what happened today!

I was kana fly kite twice in a row, which leads me on a wild goose chase around the island...

Re-enactment scene 1:

Me: Hi F***er, just to confirm with you, i'm seeing you at tampines mrt at 6? Is that fine with you?

F***er: No problem.

Me: Ok, so i meet you at the control station ar? But how do i reach you if we really dun see each other? You told me you got no handphone right?

F***er: oh ya, nevermind, i'll bring your handphone number along with me so i can call you on the public phone. Anyway, i'll be riding my bicycle there.

Me: Ok good, you better be careful riding your bicycle. See you there!

This person gave me the impression that he is a very thrifty person who just dun know a better tool in which to grow his savings. Hmmm.... no handphone and still can save $100 every month, an NSF... not bad mah... seems quite a good boy to me...

I was darn happy that this guy could well be my first case in weeks... And i went down happily to Tampines mrt to meet him...

6p.m.-Hmm... maybe i'm too early, its normal for clients to be late anyway.

6:15p.m-Hmm... i better call his house again to check that he is not sleeping or something. I called and his mum said he has gone out a while ago. Ok, not too bad, still on the way maybe?

6:30p.m-This doesn't look good... What if this poor guy kana knock down by car or something while cycling? Shit...

6:45p.m-Hmmm.... Somehow i think its really not gonna be my day liao... Called his house again...

Me: Hello, auntie ar? F***er suppose to meet me at 6 at tampines mrt and up till now he's still not here yet leh. I'm worried if anything has happened to him?

Mum:(In hokkien) You are his friend ar? You dun have his handphone number?

Me:(stunned) Nope, he didn't give me.

Mum: Aiyo that child... Ok, you try calling his number (********)

Wah... first sign that things will not turn out the way i wanted it to be. He has a handphone?
Nevermind, i give this person another chance, i'll wait until 7.

7p.m- (Dialed ********)

Me: Hello, may i speak to F****er?

F****er: (in ah beng tone) Who is this? Aiyo...

Me: I'm alvin, I thought we were suppose to meet at tampines mrt at 6?

F****er: (stunned) Aiyo, wrong number la, I dunno you.

Me: Whats your name? Whats this number again?

F****er: Aiya, wrong number already still want me to tell you my name? Bye la bye la...

*Hung up*

WTF? I recognised that voice lor, even though its in ah beng tone lor...
Fine! Gave up... Just isn't my day....
Well, now then i realised the difference between waiting for someone whom u r sure, will turn up, and waiting for someone whom u r not sure will turn up or not, and in the end, didn't turn up also...

I was on the verge of a nuclear meltdown at that time liao... Cannot, need to cool down, not worth getting over this kind of shitty person... God knows why they exist. Dun want should have just rejected me there and then mah, still want me to go down there to wait for him... Very fun meh? Go and die la!

And just as i thought that the worst was over, i asked my friend out for supper, hoping to share some of these miseries with him when instead, he flew my kite for the rest of the night. Good thing i managed to entertain myself playing lan alone at the lan shop nearby. And i'm not that stupid to just keep on waiting there... Reached home at 12, and that was when he got back to me... but it doesn't matter anymore.

Haiz... I took some time to think about all these things while climbing up the hill to my house, why sometimes, life must be this way? Perhaps it only applies to me? I've heard a lot of people telling me that there's no point in pursuing so much about money, about our future because all are predestined already... But may i ask all these people, so why are all of you living your life now? When you can't even show that the main purpose of living your life is for yourself, but instead, resign yourself to fate, which makes you just an actor playing a role as directed by the director, is your life worth living then?

This strikes a chord with me again as i recalled the numerous times when i've met with defeat where i told myself that even if my fate has been arranged already, i would still want to go against it, and something tells me that this will never change for me. Fate becomes real only when you've resign to it, just as giving up is to failure. A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins!

Perhaps tomorrow will be my lucky day? Luck is for the unprepared.... Creating chances for myself increases the possibility that i can clinch a deal, thus making me luckier isn't it?

Even if the whole world is against me, even if i'm all alone in this battle, i must never forget the purpose of my sole existence, and be the lonewolf that hunts down every obstacle with courage and bravery...

As i trudge towards a new beginning tomorrow, assessing the damages done to my worn body, i figure it will take more than a much needed rest tonight to heal myself completely, but we'll see how it goes...

Another battle awaits...

Realisation of love...

Don't be too good I will miss you. Don't be too caring, I might like you. Don't be too Sweet, I might fall for you. It's hard for me to love you when you won't love me after all... Bottom-line : A person who makes me love him is actually a person who loves me more than I love him.

If someone comes into your life and becomes a part of you but for some reasons he couldn't stay, don't cry too much... Just be glad that your paths crossed and; somehow he made you happy even for a while. Bottom-line : Time will tell. If he's yours he will surely come back.

Don't throw your back to love when it's already in front of you. Don't drive it away from you because if you do, someday you'll think again why you let love fly away when it was o nce residing next to you. Bottom-line : Treasure the one who loves you! It's not easy to find a person who loves you. It's always more valuable to have a sincere heart.

The greatest regrets in our lives are the risks we did not take. If you think something will make you. happy, GO FOR IT. Remember that we pass this way only once. Bottom-line : Time doesn't wait. If you think you might have found the right one, treasure the person, don't let that person get away. Don't let fear hold You back. Give it a try else you might regret later... "No one other than ourselves know what can truly make us happy."

Two tear drops were floating down the river. One teardrop said to the other, "I'm the teardrop of a girl who loved a man and lost him. Who are you?" ..."I'm the teardrop of the man who regrets letting a girl go..." Bottom-line : Nobody will sympathize with a person who constantly lets chances pass by without making any efforts to salvage them. We normally don't realize how important our loved and close ones are until they leave us, and then we start regretting, which results in misery. Lost time is NEVER gained again.

Of viruses and man...

Darn!

For those who fondly remembers my desktop, bought at 1.7k back in year 2001, sporting an engine of AMD K7, executing roughly at 700mhz worth of instructions with its TNT2 32MB graphics card to boost its exterior design, this is one mean machine.... back then!

Well, i'm a very easily contented owner, it just needs to satisfy my counterstrike craving and also allow me to surf the net without glitches. Where can it ever find such an undemanding owner?

Before it can even have the chance to boost a fuss-free 3 year track record, my poor machine fell ill during the times where terrorism was rampant on a global scale, including the virtual world. Someone must do something about the hatred against microsoft that is still currently building up. Come on la all u jealous freaks out there, there can only be one Bill Gates ok, so stop trying to get into the picture!

For my clear rebuttal against all these freaks, i was unknowing fed 40k++ worth of trojan horses and viruses which i've never come across in my years of experience in handling computers. My computer was rendered in suspension mode for an average of 1 hour per 1.5 hours of usage, antiviruses softwares were restricted from functioning, which makes me wonder why the hell they come up with these programs when they can be overrun by viruses? Worse of all, i seldom have enough operational time to be able to TRY fixing the problem manually. Dang! I'm so gonna kill these guys who made me reformat my hard disk again and again, only to be infected again and again.

Thus, i went into hibernation myself to search for the true solution to my computer's plight. With a fair amount of procrastination, i finally see the light after 1 year. Resurrection process is currently going on, success rate at 60%. Hah, if only Dr Frankenstein learns about this, he will probably blush...

We fought hard to create goodness, why must there be evil people out to destroy the peace and tranquility? From police to terrorists and internet watchdog to hackers, why must there always be a co-existence between good and evil? If goodness was the main reason for our existence, so then why does goodness always breeds evil after some time? Does evil = human nature?

Just like the people around us, not everyone of us are good, some are disguised as goodness before backstabbing you, whereas others appear bad, but did all the right things as all of us should do. How do we know which is which?

Gaze into the crystal ball? Flip the cards? Check the almanac?

Nah...

Your heart and soul is the key to the answers...

Who Ever Loved That Loved Not at First Sight?
by Christopher Marlowe

It lies not in our power to love or hate,

For will in us is overruled by fate.
When two are stripped, long ere the course begin,
We wish that one should love, the other win;
And one especially do we affect
Of two gold ingots, like in each respect:
The reason no man knows; let it suffice
What we behold is censured by our eyes.
Where both deliberate, the love is slight:
Who ever loved, that loved not at first sight?

p/s: Andy, my bud told me to start feeling things using
my heart and soul and i'm beginning to see a lot more
these days.

2nd installment of language miracles...

The present situation Posted by Hello

These 2 chinese words, wei1 ji1, basically meant either danger, crisis or emergency.
Inadvertently, we would come across situations whereby only these 2 words could describe. There could only be 2 kinds of responses, positive or negative. No such thing as neutral cos that would mean not doing anything, resigning to your fate, tilting towards the negative side.

Most of us would be hoping that these situations would never hit us cause they would be darn troublesome to settle and also disturb the peace within our hearts which we have strived so hard to maintain and to achieve.

But for me, i take it as a challenge. And as usual, our forefathers have been thru it, seen the real meaning behind it, and tried hinting to us yet again. Somehow, i get the feeling that humans perception of life has been passed on down to us in codes, so that we would figure them out the hard way, either thru racking our brains or fight the war.

And this is no different...

The first word, is wei1, purely danger.
The second word, is ji1, purely chance.

Why issit that in such a case, danger and chance are put together even though the final product from the chemistry is just negativity? or is it?

What many people failed to see is that, in any crisis, danger or emergency, there's always a chance... A chance to improve the situation, a chance to turn the situation into a blessing! I know it sounds eccentric but why not? People always succumb to despair and forgot all about trying... Yes, no doubt its harder, everything seems to be against you... But you have a chance, a sure-win chance which you've failed to see amid all the chaos...

Thats when i came up with a remedy to help all of us here...

Honey, I've shrunk the.... negativity!!! Posted by Hello

Yes! its just so simple! Try to see things in a different light. Imagine the impossibles, and who ever said that impossibles will remain impossibles when so many new inventions today were "impossibles"?

When you've shrunk the real, true danger, chances of success will become bigger!
Take a company encountering cashflow problems for example, it is a common problem for most companies who are still in the infancy stage. If these companies could rally their respective staffs together and propel the company thru this crisis, most of the time, it would survive to make it big... which is actually what all the big companies have all gone thru! The same could be said of baby turtles struggling to get out to the ocean on their own immediately after hatching. Bigger things do not happen just because they are lucky, its because they have struggled out of the confinements of their own psychological limitations.

In time to come, they knew of not compromising with the environment, they decide and make the changes, and never succumbing to despondence.

Remember guys, failures are those who let their environment and situation gets the better of them, while success comes for those who can turn things around to suit their game and benefits without losses!

So try to see things in a different light today! It will benefit you!

P/S: Once again, copyright hor!!!! Its totally original!!! Anybody caught copying my words.... well... good job! You've learnt well, keep it up! Ha ha...

Hidden evils... the wonders of language...

Had a realization after trying to persuade some of my "diao4 er3 lang1 dang1"(mandarin) friends to start saving money even though they have like 4 times as much allowance as me and yet they spend every single cent of it. And most of them cited various excuses such as "Spend money shiok mah."," I wanna enjoy mah."," Song leh(hokkien)..." and the most famous one "Money is supposed to be spent wat, why torture yourself to save money?I feel very shuang3!"

I couldn't help feeling sorry for my friends who just refuse to listen to my advices to save money for their future. As a financial adviser, the best thing i can do is just to advise, to try to make people see the importance of planning for their future and not just follow the detrimental saying of "Today got wine, today must drink.", which is what their excuses are promoting,"Today got money, today must spend". Then later rainy days come how?

And then some of their answers would be,"When it comes then we see how lor.","I'll have my solutions by then dun worry." or "Haha, rainy days? I'm not that unlucky one la." I really dunno whether to laugh or get angry with the way they ignore their duties in life. Somehow, when people say they are mature adults and yet they could still come up with this kinda answers, i dun quite believe them. Even as i feel so helpless that i can't save them from their own foolishness since i can't enforce my will on them, i'll have to try to do something that will make people realise it themselves...

So here's the realization:

Posted by Hello
To illustrate my point, take a look at the picture above...

What i have discovered is that this chinese word, shuang3 has a hidden meaning to it actually.
Alas, the wonders of language... None of us actually paid close attention to this word which we use so often. Basically, this word is used when we wanna emphasize how satisfied we become when we do certain things. Much as i want to recognise this word to have no hidden meanings at all, the 4 forbidden habits seem to fit with the 4 crosses that make up this word.

As i examine the word closer, notice the roof of the word, and the "ren2" associated with it in the center. It could be hinting that this word encompasses human as the main focus, carrying these forbidden acts altogether, and under one roof. Gluttony, gambling, alcoholism and sex, these habits are most commonly practised under the roof, in the confinement of a building, or a room. And definitely, when we do acquire these forbidden habits and do them, i'm sure most of us would feel satisfied, shiok right? Ha ha... how fitting!

But in today's context, is it really outdated already?
I'm afraid thats not the case. How many people today are still indulging in these forbidden habits? How many people are even actually evolving these habits to include things like overspending, not saving enough, or running away from reality, such as, procrastination? I'm sure all of us know the answers to these questions... And i hope i have helped you all realised some truth in what i've been trying to tell you guys...

As i stand in awe with the discovery of this secret, i can't help but notice other interesting codes as well. I will share the next one tomorrow so stay tune ya?

Take care guys!

P/S: Its original and not cut and paste from somewhere else one hor! Haha, and paiseh to Shijia and Deidrea, i forgot i can printscreen then paste onto paintbrush... haha, but good effort for both of them!

First taste of wedding joys...

Had the chance to witness my boss's boss, Martin's, wedding ceremony today.
The first in my life so far.
It was held at a telok blangah church, newly built, very beautiful with its large tinted panes depicting heaven and light. The ambience was very homely as friends and relatives gathered to give their blessings to Martin, who is waiting anxiously for the arrival of his bride. And when everything was settled, the bride made her well-choreographed appearance.

His bride, Elaine, was basically someone unknown to me until today as i witnessed her walking down the pedestal with her dad, showing overflowing signs of happiness. She glowed under the limelight, basking in the glory of this special occasion, once in her life.

The pastor then carried on with the service, educating us on love, marriage and life after marriage. It is touching to hear the words of the couple when they were asked why they had chosen each other, with each citing mutual realisation as the main reason... Its very interesting to know how 2 very different individuals can show each other the different sides of life, the trust they've built up with each other. It takes a lot to really believe someone on things which you have never experienced before and take preventive actions. Which is as good as both of them, being as one, directing the reins of their future together, the future which has both of them in the picture.

And when they were extending their gratitude to all the guests who turned up for their wedding, Elaine was translating in mandarin, Martin's speech in English, and i must say, their languages are so darn well polished and Elaine's mandarin certainly make up for Martin's deficiency in mandarin. What a cool combi! Fancy showing off their prowess at such an early stage of their union!

The day ended well, no glitches in sight, one can wonder how many tideous rehearsals they've been thru to carry out such a well organised display, only the sweet smile on their faces tells me that everything has been worthy for them.

And i'm sure the girls reading this will start to wonder when their day will come right?
Haha, dream on.... oops, erm... i meant, have patience... the special someone will come along if you have faith... so stay strong!

On Betrayal...

What is betrayal? This is something which have been going thru my mind from time to time...
Ever come across the same question as me?

Well, Elvin was telling me how and when betrayals can happen and ya, i think its quite true...
Most of us, when we meet someone, we'll definitely be on our guard first. Until after we had really interacted very well, and know more about that person already, do we really lower our guard a little. And until when we became close friends, where there's a certain level of trust between overselves, thats when our guard is at its lowest, where we will be most vulnerable to any forms of damages.

And thats when Elvin says:" Thats when betrayals happen, its only when u least expected it, or the people whom u trust the most, have the capabilities to betray you. Else how can a stranger betray you when u are already on guard, when basically he knows nothing important about you?"

Hmmm... very true... and thats also when betrayals could hurt the most, when things aren't as you thought it should be...

I'm not saying that everyone should begin to scrutinize everything your friends do, or start to build barriers to let friends know less about you... Just that always remember that whatever you do, when things dun go as expected or people strike you down further when you thought they were suppose to help you... Stay alive! Cos these people have just proven themselves not worthy of your friendship and all the sacrifices you've done for them...

At the same time, cherish all those friends who have stayed with you thruout all the rough patches in life, and return them the same level of trust they've put in you...

Once again, thanks to yx, sok, ck, jh, bryan for building this trust in our relationships....

Life is beautiful...

Love Vs Desire

" Love is when thoughts of but one man fills your heart,
when he means more than life to you, when you know
you would do anything for him and shall die if he is
taken from you.

Desire is when you ache to see him and touch him,
when he causes your body to burn and tremble.

Desire does not demand love before it can ensnare you,
but desire with love creates a powerful bond. "

This portion is taken from another person's blog which i felt is quite inspiring,
you can access his blog here. Even though he is well... gay, but he writes truthfully
about his own definition of love, desires and friendship. Looking from another
person's point of view shows us that there are many people who are so similar to you, yet
different in some other ways as well. We have more to learn from each other... Enjoy...

A flying start to 2005...

As i ushered in 2005, its hard for me to expect things to look good for me in 2005 especially when 2004 was quite bad.

After the countdown at Gek Poh CC with Chun Kiat, Sugui and Jiahong, Chun Kiat went home while the remaining 3 of us went back to the void deck of sugui's house to talk cock, sing song, play marble...

Not kidding leh, though a bit different la...

More adult... hehe...

Warning: Adult content ahead!!! 18 years and above!!!

I brought a tequila, the one i won with my bet with you-know-who and my guitar along to prove to sugui that my singing isn't as lousy as it sounds when i recorded it thru my laptop mic. We had a good time there, the 3 of us singing merrily while jiahong tried to control our volume in case we wake somebody up. Along the way, i downed 6 shots of tequila, 3 shots of indian milk and jiahong, 1, and sugui, a sip, within one hour... haha... *Kids dun try this at home...*

We packed up at 4 plus because all of us were tired, and in fact, i was getting quite light headed already. And by the time i got onto the bed and laid down, the tequila was already churning inside my stomach, and my occasional spider sense tells me that something bad is gonna happen...

I laid in bed, and tried to sleep away the discomfort in my stomach but the churning wouldn't stop. Thats when i decided to just get everything out and relieve my liver of the burden as well. By now, Jiahong's snoring was already inaudible to me as i rush to the toilet. I kneeled by the side of the toilet bowl and let it all out, with the aftertaste of tequila and indian milk strongly discouraged me to try the mixture again.

Phew! At least i felt much better... Couldn't remember whether i flush the whole mess away or did i leave it there... I just concuss back on the bed again...

The morning that ensued was just horrendous to me, my head was still swimming, my stomach felt strange, just awful... Tried to pretend that i was alright as i walked around in sugui's kitchen to brush my teeth, took a lot of effort to walk straight and look healthy to sugui's mum.

Oh man, is this the way things are gonna start for me in 2005? Am i doom to relive my 2004 experiences again? I sunk back into a deep slumber, as sugui left me at home for her gym, my stomach bloated, my head going around the world...

12p.m...

Before i'm gonna start asking stupid questions like:"What am i doing here?", i got a grip on myself and confront reality...

Sitting down at sugui's living room with her mum, i had the worse breakfast ever... Its not that the breakfast is so bad, its just that the curry bread i was munching on and the glass of plain water just can't seem to adapt to my stomach conditions, or issit the other way round? My stomach felt darn bad, felt like vomitting, but i had to keep my face from cringing in case her mum finds out that i'm having a hangover and scolds me...

Everything is a torture... die liao, 2005, another bad year... or is it?...

In the end, i had a good chat with sugui's mum and learnt some new secrets of sugui!!! hee hee...
I was also saved by her mum when she asked me to stop eating the curry bread... haha... It was then that she started talking about insurance and asking sugui's brother to get one policy from me! Wow! That was lucky, didn't know that Hui Kuang didn't have any policies, and he was actually interested in hearing what i have to offer. Cool! Not to mention, he was also very click with me... haha, just a few hours of close interaction and we felt as if we are old friends liao...
hmmm... maybe because i'm close to sugui and that unknowingly forms an invisible bridge to each of our hearts...

Everything went well, and Yanxin also signed one later on when she came to visit....
And suddenly, everyone wants a policy, Sugui and Chun kiat included... All except jiahong, the stubborn guy who just can't see the importance of saving up for rainy days and get himself protected from unfortunate events such as the tsunami...

And within just a few hours, everything seems right.... I'm suddenly on track to a great start of the year...

I also dunno where i found the appetite to eat steamboat at marina later on, was actually planning to cancel it actually because of my bad stomach, and suddenly, everything was good... I ate a lot of food, basically gorged myself to replace the lunch i've forsaken... probably chun kiat thought that i was trying to catch up with the size of Melvin... ahaha... you all know what i mean...

The night ended very nicely, i had my fill, we played some nice arcade, had my close friends with me, with transport taken care of by yanxin, what more could i ask for?

haha... life is just like a durian tree... you will never know when the durian is gonna drop on you...haha...

Well, once again, i wish to thank all my supporters aka close friends, for making this flying start for me, and of course, i'll treat those who treat me well, better... i promise... Best wishes for all of you!!!

On a lighter note, i was also treated to a nice gesture when i was offered a fishball by the special someone... haha, even though i didn't get to eat the fishball in the end, that was still enough to warm my heart...

Resolution for 2005,

"Balance and excel in all committments, fulfill all my *desires, no regrets!"

Haha... 2005... enjoy...

Good bye 2004...

2004 just waved goodbye and here we are at the start of 2005.

Looking back, 2004 was a turbulent year for me, so many things happened to me, always taking me for a roller coaster ride. Lets have a recap:-

2004 was the year where :
- I finally ORD!!! After SO SO SO LONG... Got out of that stinking
shit hole SAF.
- My dad suffered a heart attack, but good thing he survived the
bypass operation. Having his holidays now, well-deserved for our
hardworking daddy.
- I went into my biggest business venture so far and suffered losses
due to betrayal and over speculation.
- For that, i was caught in yet another shit hole until my true friends
came along and pulled me out of it.
- Going back to school wasn't easy, had a hard time cooping with
school work once again. When am i ever gonna find the interest
in studying?!?!?
- Became a Financial Adviser to meet the increasing burden from
loss of family income.
- Tsunami struck some of my fellow countrymen, what misfortunes!
- Made more new friends while i'm on the job! Cool!
- I found that special someone...

And as if 2004 isn't happening enough, my buddy jiahong managed to squeeze in some desserts by flying my aeroplane for the whole of new year's eve. Haha, thanks bud! It was memorable. But at least you still turned up in the end to celebrate the new year with me haha...

End of 2004

I would like to give credit to Jiahong, Sugui, Chun Kiat and Yanxin who selflessly extended their helping hands when i have to be at the hospital nursing my dad, giving me their support and comfort when i feel down.

Bryan, Jansen, Andy and Zhixiang for their spiritual support and understanding upon hearing the misfortunes.

Bryan, Shane and Jian Yuan for putting their trust with me when i've to default my payments of the loan i took up with them which roughly amounted to nearly $3000. I've since repaid most of them. Thanks buds! I really owe you all a BIG favour!

And the special someone, who has helped me tremendously which i feel i owed you a lifetime, but who is too shy to accept all the credits and recognition. What sweet memories we shared together.... Thank you!

Lastly, all my new friends whom i met on the job, Jeffery, Jo, Elvin, Ivy, Yaolong, Qide, Issac, Ihalmi, Wendy, Cuiyun, Deidrea, Stefani and Noelle... Thanks for giving me all the help and guidance i need and i see we'll have more chances to work together in future!

Thank all those who has helped me in one way or the other if i've failed to mention them.
All of you have been my true friends and i truly treasure your existence!

This has been a worthy 2004 for me...
